All About The Blender vs Mixer

Equipped with a very high speed rotating blade, the blender allows you to mix several ingredients while preserving their respective components. Also called a “mixer”, this device is often likened to an electric whisk when it is not equipped with a graduated container.

    Advantages of Standard Blenders

The mixer has many advantages on the following points:

    Price:

The blender is sold at a significantly lower price than more complex household appliances. With less than 40 euros, you can thus have a device of 600 watts of power.

    Cleaning

It couldn’t be easier to clean than the blender: its motor does not require any special maintenance and the bowl is easily washed in the dishwasher, whether plastic or glass.

    Size:

The blender is often modest in size. For this purpose, it is space-saving and its presence in no way affects the functionality of the room where it is used.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBILITIES OF USING THE MIXER?

With a blender, you can prepare fruit juice, coulis and mousselines or make cold soup, just like you can make baby puree. Tomato and herb based sauces can also be prepared using a blender before cooking.

WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA FOR CHOOSING A MIXER?

Before purchasing a blender, consider the following:

    ENGINE POWER:

If your blender is only used for making smoothies or juices, the 350 watt models may be perfect for you. If, on the other hand, you need to crush ice cubes there to bring a touch of freshness to your preparations, choose a device of around 550 watts. For professional use, 1000 watt mixers with more than 5 speeds are most suitable.

    THE PRICE :

If your budget is limited, there are many basic mixers available to you. In case you are ready to spend more money, you can turn to more modern and complex models with more features.

    WHAT ABOUT THE BLENDER?

The blender is a much more versatile household appliance than the blender. With its base, blade and pitcher, its function is to mix liquid pastes, crush ice cubes, mix cocktails, make purees, or prepare milkshakes.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE BLENDER COMPARED TO ITS USE?

The power of the blender is much higher than that of the conventional blender. It also has more features and offers a higher level of versatility than its “ancestor” the blender.

The blender is available in two varieties. There is the classic blender on one side, and the heated blender on the other. The heating model cooks the food it has just blended. To this end, it saves considerable time when preparing meals.

Useful in all seasons, the blender allows you to make cold preparations (juices, smoothies, etc.) in summer, and hot dishes such as velouté in the winter season.

    HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR BLENDER?

There are many criteria to take into account when choosing your blender. It all depends on the needs of the future user and the intended purposes for the device.

    THE POWER OF ALL COMPONENTS:

Whether choosing a heating blender or a classic blender, wattage is an important consideration.

    ENGINE POWER:

For the blender to be efficient at crushing ice, it is necessary to have a motor power of at least 500 watts. This recommendation also remains valid in the event of frequent use of the appliance (every hour for example), even if it is only a question of mixing fruits, cocktails, or milkshakes.

THE HEATING POWER (FOR A HEATING BLENDER)

This is about the power of the hob. If you want quick cooking, go for an 800 watt heated blender. You will be able to make a soup or a compote in 15 or 20 minutes.

    AUTOMATIC PROGRAMMING:

Automatic programming is a feature that distinguishes the blender from the mixer (the latter does not have one). The heating blender has up to ten pre-programmed functions to meet all needs. If you opt for this programmable model, you can have a creamier soup or a ground soup according to your preferences. You can also have a soup with chopped vegetables or a less liquid soup. If these features do not interest you, you can perfectly turn to a classic blender, less expensive.

    THE MATERIAL:

Elegant, the glass bowl is also resistant. This transparent container will give you the opportunity to see the progress of your preparations more easily.

Lighter, the stainless steel bowl is also easier to handle. Unlike the glass bowl, there is no risk of it breaking. In addition, it is equipped with a double wall which keeps the freshness or the heat inside. You will therefore not be able to burn yourself even if you take the container with your bare hands after cooking.

The plastic bowl is perfect for its graduations and level of impact resistance. Small flat, it preserves the smell of preparations and it does not disappear, even after several washes.

    BOWL CAPACITY:

For a good use of the blender, we will favor a 1.2 liter device for a family of less than 4 people. For 7 or 8 people, we recommend a model with a minimum capacity of 1.8 liters.

    EASE OF USE:

Having a classic blender or a heating blender is not enough, you have to know how to use it. To make your life easier, choose a model with a touch for each type of program.

    SECURITY:

Since this is a cooking appliance, the heating blender must be properly placed so that the contents do not risk spilling. For your safety, therefore, choose a device equipped with a non-slip sole. Also check that the cover has a safety device to limit splashing.
